Residence Permit for Reunion


Eligibility: A foreign national who intends to visit his or her relative who is a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a permanent residence in China.

Required application materials:

1. One completed Visa /Stay Permit /Residence Permit Application Form;

2. One color identification photo (taken within 6 months, with a white background, in 2 inches, and bareheaded);

3. The original and photocopies of the applicant’s valid passport, visa and other related documents;

4. A valid registration form for temporary residence of foreigners;

5. The original Certificate of Verification for Physical Examination Record for Foreigner or Overseas Chinese issued by Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center or an entry-exit inspection and quarantine department of a prefecture-level city (provided by a first-time applicant aged 18 and above);

6. Proof of family relationship, that is, spouse, parent (of the spouse), son, daughter, sibling, (maternal) grandparent, (maternal) grandchild, and spouse of son or daughter, and an application letter from the applicant;

7. Supporting materials consistent with the matters requested:

(1) In case of visit to a resident in Kunshan, the original and photocopies of his or her permanent residence certificate and resident ID card should be provided;

(2) In case of visit to a resident from another province or city, the original and photocopies of his or her resident ID card, permanent residence certificate, and proof of residence for over 6 months in Suzhou should be provided;

(3) In case of visit to an overseas Chinese or a resident from China’s Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan residing in Kunshan, the original and photocopies of his or her identification document and proof of residence for over 6 months in Suzhou should be provided;

(4) In case of visit to a permanent foreign resident, the original and photocopy of his or her Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card from the People’s Republic of China should be provided.

8. Any additional application materials requested by visa authorities based on specific circumstances;

9. Certification, including marriage certificate, birth certificate, and certification of kinship or name and other personal information change, issued by foreign competent authorities or public notary institutions should be authenticated by the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in the applicant’s home country. Additionally, any foreign language supporting documents should be translated into Chinese by a qualified translation agency.
