On June 27, the 2025 Kunshan China-Japan Business Exchange Expo was held, providing a platform for companies from both countries to connect, share resources, and explore business opportunities for mutual growth.
Prior to the event, Fan Jianqing, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Kunshan, met with Okada Masaru, Consul General of Japan in Shanghai, to discuss deepening bilateral ties and strengthening economic cooperation. Also attending were Kunshan officials, Amano Shinya, Chief Representative of JETRO Shanghai, and Oshima Kazuhiro, President of the Kunshan Japanese Business Club.
Mayor Fan welcomed the Japanese delegation and highlighted Kunshan’s long-standing partnership with Japan, dating back to 1984. Today, nearly 400 Japanese companies—including Toyota, Makita, Kawasaki, NSK, and AGC—operate in Kunshan, contributing to a robust and expanding economic relationship. He emphasized the city’s commitment to providing top-tier services and support for foreign businesses and fostering a favorable environment for long-term cooperation in trade, culture, and education.
Consul General Okada expressed his appreciation for Kunshan’s consistent support of Japanese companies and expatriates. He praised the city’s strong business ecosystem, comprehensive industrial support, and cultural openness, noting that Kunshan remains a key destination for Japanese investment.
During the expo, business leaders and industry representatives from both countries exchanged insights on corporate management and market expansion. The Kunshan Japanese Commerce and Industry Club signed a preliminary procurement agreement with Suzhou Construction Engineering Group, marking another step forward in bilateral industrial collaboration.
