Kunshan Chinese Opera Museum is the first opera-themed museum in China that gathers all 348 Chinese opera genres. It opened on October 11, 2023, with a total construction area of approximately 17,000 square meters. The architecture is inspired by the “gongche” musical notation, creating a dynamic space that interprets ancient and modern traditions. The museum features various exhibition halls, education, and cultural creative areas, incorporating functions of collection, display, research, education, and performance. It fully displays the history and characteristics of the 348 Chinese opera genres. In the permanent exhibition hall, the “History of Chinese Opera” displays significant events in the history of Chinese opera, showcasing its artistic charm and contemporary style. The current special exhibition, “The Overview of Chinese Opera Genres”, showcases the full range of the 348 opera genres based on the rich outcomes of the Chinese Opera Gala (Kunshan) Events.
