Duke Kunshan University was established under the approval of the Ministry of Education in September 2013 through a US-China partnership between Duke University, Wuhan University, and Kunshan Municipal People’s Government. In 2014, the university inaugurated its post-graduate program and undergraduate exchange programs. In 2018, it welcomed its first batch of undergraduate students.
DKU is a world-class liberal arts education provider dedicated to high-quality education and development. It draws merits from both Chinese and Western education traditions in talent-cultivation and makes remarkable strides in its overall operation and development.
Campus Construction: Phase I campus covers an area of 14.67 hectares, with a gross floor area of 68,600 m2, and has earned LEED accreditation. Phase II campus spans an area of 18.93 hectares, has a gross floor area of 15,3000 m2, and comprises a library, WHU-Duke Research Institute, and a comprehensive gymnasium.
Education System: Duke Kunshan University offers 14 undergraduate majors and 5 graduate programs, and excels in disciplines such as Medical Physics, Environmental Policy, and Global Health. In 2021, the university began to offer joint master’s and doctoral training programs in partnership with Wuhan University. It boasts a diverse faculty with over 200 full-time instructors coming from around 30 countries and regions, of which about 60% are foreign teachers and all subject teachers possess doctoral degrees.
